Adam A. Allan: Home Page

For some reason, I look rather grumpy in this picture.

About Me: I am a second year Mathematics graduate student at the University of Chicago. I will soon be receiving my Masters degree, and will then be pursuing my PhD. I received my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Clarkson University. At Clarkson University, I was a member of the Honors Program. At the University of Chicago, Alperin is my adviser, whose webpage, I should note, has served as the basis for my own. To get a feel for my mathematical interests, the interested reader may browse my topic paper, which I recently completed. To summarize, I am interested in the modular representations of finite groups, and more specifically, in the module-theoretic and cohomological-theoretic aspects of this area. Currently, I am learning about Hochschild cohomology, while continuing my reading on cohomology of finite groups.

Publications: In the summer of 2003, I took part in an REU at Potsdam University under the guidance of Harold Ellingsen. A paper emerged from the work we did, and it has been accepted for publication by the undergraduate mathematics journal Pi Mu Epsilon. In the summer of 2004, I worked under Bob Strichartz in the area of Fractal Analysis, at Cornell University. A current student at Cornell University is continuing and finalizing the work that I undertook there, and when he is completed, our paper will be submitted for publication.
