Research
My current research is focused on the study of various categorificiations of Lie algebras, which can be viewed as classical analogues of certain types of tensor categories. The analogy between the Lie algebraic world and the world of tensor categories has borne fruit in recent work by Drinfeld, Gelaki, Nikshych, and Ostrik (Group-theoretical properties of nilpotent modular categories and On braided fusion categories I). In my work I seek to better understand the connections between the different viewpoints on Lie 2-algebras, with an eye toward elucidating their relationships with tensor categories.
