"On $K_1$ of a product of curves"

I will discuss the arithmetic interest of the group $H^1(X,\, K_2)$ for varieties $X$ over number fields. I will explain the elements of this group constructed by Flach and Mildenhall in the case where $X$ is a product of a modular curve. Then I will explain an analogue of their elements in the case where $X$ is product of a hyperelliptic curve.
