Homework (and Solutions)
Solutions courtesy of Suzanne
- Homework 1 Due April 11th
- Homework 2 Due April 25th
- Homework 2 Solutions
- Homework 3 Due May 2nd
Note: We didn't get to the material for the last two questions of HW 3, so you don't have to do them!
Homework 3 Solutions
- Homework 4 Due May 9th
Changes to Homework 4:
For question 1, complete the multiplication table for the symmetries of an
equilateral TRIANGLE instead of the square (We will talk about the square
next time.)
Restate question 2 as follows: "Draw two shapes that have exactly the same
symmetries as the equilateral triangle. Do the same for the square." (In
other words replace, "symmetry group" with the word "symmetries").
Note that you will need to figure out what all the symmetries of a square
are to complete the problem.
Do Questions 3 and 4 as stated.
- Homework 5 Due May 16th
- Homework 6 Due May 23rd
- Homework 7 Due May 30th
- Homework 8 See note below.
- Patterns to build Platonic Solids (For Homework 8)
Notes on Homework 8: Homework 8 is mostly optional except you must hand in a platonic solid other than the tetrahedron for the final. (See problem 3.) Also, we did not get to talk about nets, so disregard problem 4. (But if your curious I'm happy to talk about nets after class next week!) The remaining problems are optional, but doing them will help you digest this new material.
